Time Flies

Time flies when you are having fun, and even when you aren't.  I can't believe I haven't posted in such a long time.  Caitlyn is fast approaching her 4th birthday.  So hard to believe 4 years ago I was pregnant and anxiously awaiting the arrival of my precious angel.  Caitlyn is learning so much in her school- they do math and science, a little spanish and every once in awhile she throws some of her baby sign back at me.  Becoming a parrot is her new thing.  She loves to repeat my words, although, repeating hers is not recommended.  She tells me "Mommy, no repeat my words" in a very serious and matter of fact tone of voice.

Picking out clothes is becoming more of a challenge with my independent, "I can do it myself" child.  We have started alternating days- "you choose yesterday, mommy.  I choose today"  Some days get vetoed as she would love to wear summery dresses and flip flops if I let her.

Part of our independence is having a say in our birthday party.  Strict instructions of having only 3 boys-Jacob, Brendan, and mommy's friend's boy (Seth) are the only ones allowed.  She won't even allow any of the boys from her class to come.  The girls list isn't much longer but must include her best friends: Sadie and Rylee Roo.

gotta run...post more later

Sometimes it's hard to be a Mommy

This isn't so much about Caitlyn's craziness but about me and being a mommy.  Caitlyn is a very vibrant and outgoing little girl.  She has her own opinions, and is very directed in what she wants and when she wants it.  I hoped as a parent I would be the kind to encourage this and help her flourish as a little girl, and in the future into a beautiful young lady.
Unfortunately, lately I have not been a very good mommy at this.  I find myself being very short and yelling more often than I would like to.  It makes me not like myself very much.  Today, Caitlyn left to go spend several days with her Uncle Phillip, Aunt Melony (Melanie) and Cousin- Madison and I find myself missing her very much. I love her with all my heart and am angry at myself for letting myself get out of control this way.  My goal is to try and be a better mom, wife and friend.

The story of Crap

This past Saturday, Caitlyn and daddy were visiting the every dreadful- Chuck-e-Cheese to play games while mommy was having her teeth cleaned.  Well, from the way the story goes- Caitlyn must of been looking for daddy to take her to the bathroom and had a "poopie" accident when she couldn't find him.  So she decided to go to the bathroom on her own.......daddy found her in the boy's bathroom trying to clean herself up.

C: "Crap, I had an accident."
D: "Honey we don't say that word."
C:" Crap?"
D: Yes that word
C:  Only big people say crap?
D: Yes sometimes big people say that word.
C: Daddy say crap?
D: No daddy doesn't say that word.
C: Mommy say crap?
D: Well, yes actually your mommy does say that word.
C: Okay

Realized after he told me this story, I do say Crap.....and way too often :)

Various Going Ons

So it's been a while since I have posted much about the funnies that are Caitlyn.  We are headed to my dad's in two weeks but Caitlyn insists on telling me every 5 minutes that she is ready.  When I ask her what is she ready for, she replies, "to go to grandma's".  I have to keep explaining that we aren't going for 2 more weeks.  So yesterday, we took out her calendar and circled the day we leave and I told her we would cross out each day as it goes by.  She seemed pretty content with this and tried to "show it" to my dad over the phone last night.  She did show Uncle Ric and also showed him she was going to Disney too.

Yesterday as we headed to the water park Caitlyn told me she was sad......here's our conversation.
C: I am sad
M: Why are you sad?
C: I miss Dr Bergman (her peditritian), I want to see him
M: You miss Dr Bergman?
C: Yes, I want him to come to my house

Such a silly girl.  I am friends with his daughter and son in law from high school so I texted Michele the conversation so she could tell her dad.  She laughed.

Sunday, we went and got our new dog-Captain. She lives him already, but I think she is a little hyper for him. Heck he's even scared of the cats!
ed so cute. The party was a hit. Will post cake and party pics later. Caitlyn told everyone she was the birthday girl so she got to go first for everything!
